Welcome to Camp Diekirch!

Peaceful camping in Luxembourg

Great to have you here! We are Kim & Martijn van Halen and, together with our two dogs Muis & Kruimel, we are the proud new faces of Camp Diekirch.

In December 2021, we took a big step: we traded the Netherlands for beautiful Luxembourg. A new country, a new environment and a new adventure. By now, we really feel at home here and have discovered just how much Luxembourg has to offer.

And then, on November 1, 2024, came the next big step: we got the keys to Camp Diekirch!

From that moment on, we jumped straight into a great new adventure. The campsite was ready for some fresh energy, and we saw lots of possibilities to turn it into a warm, welcoming, family-friendly place once again.

From green and glasses to campsite life

Back in the Netherlands, Martijn had a landscaping business and a small urban garden centre. So, greenery, working outdoors and creating beautiful spaces have been part of his life for many years. That comes in pretty handy now, because at a campsite there is always something to prune, build, improve or… simply enjoy doing outdoors.

Kim is a qualified optician and contact lens specialist. But perhaps her biggest passion is people. For more than 20 years, she volunteered with people with intellectual disabilities. Every year, among other things, she helped organise two holiday weeks.

Hospitality, caring for others and making sure people have a great time therefore come naturally to her.

Step by step, and with lots of joy

Since getting the keys, we have been busy making Camp Diekirch our own. We want to make the campsite more beautiful, more welcoming and, above all, more personal – one step at a time.

No big words or complicated plans. Just a lovely place where you can arrive, relax and enjoy yourself. A place where you can wake up peacefully in the morning, have a chat with the neighbours and perhaps spend the evening simply enjoying the peace and the beautiful surroundings.

We absolutely love meeting our guests. Having a little chat at reception, sharing tips about the area or simply enjoying a coffee together – that’s what makes us happy.

And then, of course, there are Muis & Kruimel.
They may not have had any say in the purchase of the campsite, but they have since appointed themselves the unofficial campsite owners. Their main responsibilities are wandering around, being curious and personally greeting everyone. They take their job very seriously, too.
